The Tocá Rufar Orchestra

The Tocá Rufar shows result from the investment in free musical training for children, young people and adults, and the development of artistic projects for public presentation in which the interpreters are the students themselves. Tocá Rufar provides its players with a new and better perspective of themselves and requires them to seek a fair balance between respect for a common will and order and the affirmation of an individual identity within the community. The Tocá Rufar Orchestra has the most emblematic show and ambassador of a modern, agile, active, creative, innovative and possessing a solid cultural identity. Composing a single group, the group composed of the players of Tocá Rufar gathers and brings together disparate individuals whose social contexts do not normally intersect or know but who, as percussionists, acquire a position of equity. As beloved members of a single family, they finally share a meeting place between generations, cultures, life experiences, school and academic careers, social groups, identities; where everyone is understood and considered solely for their commitment, friendship and merit.

Delivery-you

In addition to its direct action on students, Tocá Rufar has a very comprehensive indirect action. The Tocá Rufar shows and the way the players perform and behave publicly inspire thousands of spectators, not only for the musical quality but for the rectitude, education, generosity and friendliness that emanate; they set an example, challenge and nourish the spirit and are an important stimulus to solidarity and involvement in the service of the community.

Reveal yourself

Orchestra players access places and contexts that most individuals cannot reach: they play alongside renowned artists such as Buraka Som Sistema, Fafá de Belém, Fausto, Jorge Palma, José Mário Branco, Mickael Carreira, Paulo de Carvalho , Rui Júnior & oÓquesomtem ?, Tony Carreira, Xutos & Pontapés, to name a few; they represent the country in international events as happened in several World Expositions or in the Signature of the Treaty of Lisbon or in the Big Bang Festival in Belgium; travel around the world and live with people from a wide range of backgrounds. This is not only a factor of personal appreciation but also gives a great capacity for understanding and acceptance.

Improve yourself

More than 80% of the Orchestra's performances are offered to promoters of events that do not have the financial capacity to cover the real value of hiring, whenever it is believed that the inherent principles and causes are fair and of merit. In order to face these actions, without prejudice to the sustainability of the project, Tocá Rufar charges a demanding amount from those who can pay and, indirectly, claims to the richest a social educational and cultural role that they often refuse to assume.
