How did Tocá Rufar start?

The beginning

Tocá Rufar was born in 1996 as part of an invitation from Expo'98 addressed to Rui Júnior, to create a percussion show based on traditional Portuguese rhythm and the Bombo instrument. After Expo'98, the Tocá Rufar project remained alive and hosted at TamborQFala, Seixal. ADAT - Associação dos Amigos do Tocá Rufar - was set up on 28 May 1999. Continuing today to develop the artistic potential of its members, under the artistic direction of Rui Júnior, ADAT went beyond its initial purpose as an association, responding for the largest a traditional Portuguese percussion orchestra and for the development of percussion workshops throughout the country and abroad, attracting children, young people and adults and establishing partnerships with several public and private institutions.
